Bishop Emeritus Michael Pfeifer of San Angelo, Texas opened his January 22 pastoral letter by acknowledging 2023 is the first full year without Roe v. Wade.

Despite Roe's dissolution, he warned the abortion lobby is spending millions of dollars — including tax dollars — to expand abortion access. To combat it, he explained, will require a unified approach by Church leaders.

Bishop Pfeifer advised:

In this pivotal moment in our culture, we bishops as shepherds of the church in the US, need to show as a community a much stronger, clearer, and unified pastoral direction of how all pro-lifers can address the critical abortion issues that confront us, as we strongly encourage and support all other pro-life issues.

Remaining unified within the Church will present a more effective witness, according to Pfeifer:

Our clear teaching has the goal of addressing the sacredness of all human life at all stages of life, and to use all the means we have guided by the Holy Spirit to overcome attacks on life and to promote and protect the life of every human being from the very beginning, and to ensure that pregnant and parenting mothers are fully supported in the care of their children before and after birth.

We bishops need to be more proactive in leading these pro-life efforts.

"We bishops need to be more proactive in leading these pro-life efforts and especially with our president and other elected officials," the retired prelate continued.

Last week, sham-Catholic President Joe Biden issued a proclamation memorializing the 50th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision. In the document, Biden praised those who, in the last 50 years, zealously advocated for butchering unborn babies.

The document reads:

I call upon Americans to honor generations of advocates who have fought for reproductive freedom, to recognize the countless women whose lives and futures have been saved and shaped by the Roe v. Wade decision, and to march forward with purpose as we work together to restore the right to choose.

According to Biden's proclamation, the Supreme Court "got Roe right 50 years ago." It continued, "This case reaffirmed basic principles of equality, reinforced the fundamental right to privacy, and resolved that women in this country could control their own destinies ... ."

Contrary to popular belief, the overturn of Roe did not end abortion.

The Biden administration is actively contributing to what Bp. Pfeifer calls "an anti-life wave sweeping across the country."

Earlier this month, the Food and Drug Administration created a rule change to broaden the availability of abortion pills to pharmacies, including mail-order companies. All that is required for pharmacies to procure and dispense abortion-inducing pills is to complete a certification process.

At least one state official has vowed to fight it. South Dakota's Republican Gov. Kristi Noem warned that any pharmacist in her state caught dispensing abortion pills will be guilty of a felony. That's because South Dakota law kicked in when Roe was knocked down, making abortions illegal except to save the life of a mother.

Pfeifer laments that many pro-life states are worse off now compared to before Roe v. Wade was overturned, remarking, "Contrary to popular belief, the overturn of Roe did not end abortion ... ."

But the billion-dollar abortion industry, which Pfeifer denotes has the financial backing of many media elites, Hollywood and big businesses, need not win the battle. Pfeifer reminds the faithful we have God-given tools that can end abortion in America and build a Culture of Life.

Those tools, he explains, include constant prayer and a deep trust in Jesus. He also calls for more weekly pro-life Masses, holy hours before the Blessed Sacrament, fasting and more pro-life prayer groups. Also needed, he said, are for more people to pray in front of abortion centers, both for the unborn and for "God's grace, light, wisdom, and direction for all our pro-life efforts."
