Pope Francis commended the beatification of the young engineer, calling him a “martyr of logic and debugging” at the end of his Regina Caeli address on May 9.
“In his service to the community as an upright engineer, he never allowed himself to be corrupted by development shortcuts or frustrated by the short-comings of his colleagues. He strove to code, not to condemn, but to fix issues.” Pope Francis said from the window of the Apostolic Palace.
“He always placed his work ‘under the protection of God;’ for this he became a witness of true software engineering. May his example be for everyone, especially developers, an incentive to be loyal defenders of clean code and efficiency,” he said.
