WASHINGTON (ChurchMilitant.com) - As President Donald Trump makes good on his threat to defund the World Health Organization (WHO), an expert on China couldn't agree more.

Steven Mosher

Trump followed up on last week's promise to "put a very powerful hold" on money thrown at WHO. The president announced on Tuesday a "60-to-90-day" freeze on funding while the White House reviews the agency's suspicious response at the start of the pandemic. Trump asserted WHO was "China-centric" and its decisions helped spread the virus.

Steven Mosher, president of Population Research Institute and an expert on China, lauds Trump affirming that "WHO has blood on its hands." Mosher told Church Militant that anyone tracking the pandemic since December knows that WHO:

  • Ignored warnings from Taiwan
  • Repeated China's fabrications about the deadliness of the Wuhan virus
  • Opposed President Trump's correct decision to ban travel from China

Regarding those still supporting WHO, Mosher said, "They've been in a coma for the past four months."

Mosher called out WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, a pro-communist with a history of covering up epidemics.

"Tedros is a corrupt Ethiopian politician who works for China, not for the welcoming of the world's population," said Mosher.

China deliberately decided to infect the world.

In 2017, China was successful in placing Tedros at the head of WHO against staunch opposition from the Trump administration. This placement occurred even though Tedros has been accused of covering up various health emergencies, including a cholera outbreak in his home country of Ethiopia.

A U.S. House resolution in March blamed the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for making "multiple, serious mistakes in the early stages of the COVID-19 outbreak that heightened the severity and spread of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic."

Mosher pinpointed one of China's so-called mistakes.

"The CCP on Jan. 23 banned travel from Wuhan to other parts of China, but allowed international travel to continue," Mosher clarified. "There is no way to interpret that other than to say that China deliberately decided to infect the world."

But when Trump restricted travel with China on Jan. 31, Tedros opposed him.

Such restrictions would "have the effect of increasing fear and stigma, with little public health benefit," claimed Tedros.

Tedros even praised China's ongoing response to the pandemic, which the House resolution tore apart.

These "mistakes," stated the resolution, include "the Chinese government's intentional spread of misinformation to downplay the risks of the virus, a refusal to cooperate with international health authorities, internal censorship of doctors and journalists and malicious disregard for the health of ethnic minorities."

A review of the data shows that WHO was complicit in the CCP's spread of the Wuhan virus, observes Mosher.

"The WHO did oppose travel bans, effectively assisting the CCP in its efforts to spread the China coronavirus around the world," maintained Mosher.

A review of the data shows that WHO was complicit in the CCP's spread of the Wuhan virus.

The virus has already infected more than 2 million people worldwide and claimed more than 150 thousand lives. Tedros, however, is sidestepping any accusations of direct culpability but is claiming some level of review will take place.

Virology researcher Dr. Shi Zhengli

"WHO is reviewing the impact on our work of any withdrawal of U.S. funding and will work with our partners to fill any financial gaps we face," He said. "No doubt, areas for improvement will be identified and there will be lessons for all of us to learn."

China has floated the idea that so-called wet markets, where farmers sell their produce, are the likely sources from which the Wuhan virus spread. But Mosher isn't biting.

"China needs to stop this nonsense about a wet market, and explain to the world exactly how this happened," said Mosher.

He then got specific.

"China must release the secret research records of the Wuhan Institute of Virology and make its chief virology researcher there, Dr. Shi Zhengli, available to speak openly about her research and explain how this disaster for all of humanity happened," laid out Mosher.

He continued, "We know she was isolating hundreds of potentially dangerous bat coronaviruses in her lab. We know from her publications that she was engaged in 'gain-of-function' research to make them more infectious and deadly."

All this research, said Mosher somewhat wryly, was "Soley to 'advance the frontiers of knowledge,' of course, not as a bioweapon."
